Rick,
Picked-up your story off a newsgroup. Great to hear
of your personal success. I just underwent (May 3rd)
triple PLIF; L-3, L-4, and L-5. That's right, total
of SIX screws. I'm also a 48 year old male in fairly
good condition, except for the Degenerative Disc
Disease I've beeb battling for over ten years now.
The last flare-up of sciatica left me unable to stand
or walk without excruciating pain, and did not
diminish at all after a period of over a month. It
was, indeed, time to get something done. I basically
told my surgeon to do whatever needed to be done while
he was in there, because I didn't want to come back
for another round.
I was in the hospital for 5 days, and now have been
home for another 5. I cannot walk yet without the
assistance of a "walker", but I believe I can feel
myself getting a little better every day. I hope at
some point to be able to return to my Bowflex to aid
in my recovery.
I go back to the doc tomorrow to get my staples (22)
removed.
Please feel free to e-mail me at this address with
updates of your recovery, and I will keep you posted
of my recovery efforts.
Thanks,
Butch Yon
